Connie Bryan is the CEO and founder of OnSite Health, headquartered in South Bend, Indiana. Since 2005 OnSite Health has provided customized on-site health care services to all major industry sectors across the United States. Connie is a Registered Nurse (RN) and is dedicated to improving the overall health of the community. We were thrilled to sit down with her to discuss her role as the CEO and discuss what the future holds for OnSite Health.

1. What is your Role at OnSite Health?

As the CEO and founder of OnSite Health, my primary role is to work closely with our Executive team, setting strategic long and short-term goals and making sure that we are measuring our successes and needs for improvement. I am constantly searching for ways to expand our footprint in the occupational health environment in our own community and throughout the U.S., bringing new ideas to our executive team for discussion and implementation. A good part of my week is spent researching new technology and ways to improve our client’s medical experience and my favorite part of being the CEO of OnSite Health is helping our company grow, serving others, and employing nurses who have a passion for health.

2. How and Why did you Start OnSite Health?

As an RN, at a large manufacturing plant in Indiana, I saw the need for a greater focus on preventative medicine within the work environment. I worked closely with employees of the plant to develop a wellness committee and provide monthly health education and activities to keep employees engaged in their own health. By providing simple health screenings, and offering first aid to employees, we were able to identify significant health issues in individuals who were otherwise unaware. Some of these issues included prostate and testicular cancers, anemia, thyroid disease, heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes.

By providing these health screenings to employees’ spouses, the word got out quickly that we were doing something special. I was being asked if I could provide these same services to other companies and finally made the tough decision to leave the job I loved, eventually creating OnSite Health. It was important to me to offer prevention-focused care to as many people as possible, and OnSite Health has been able to grow and do just that!

3. What is Something you Wish People Knew About Nursing?

Nursing is physical and very emotional. Nurses go home at the end of their shift thinking about every choice they make that day. We think about our patients and their families and want, very much, for our patients to be healthy mentally and physically. We cry, we laugh, we grieve, we celebrate. Nurses work hard all day, every day, to make sure that their patient gets the care they need, even putting themselves at great physical risk to do so. Being a nurse is to be selfless, hard-working, smart, and loyal. Being a nurse is a life-long commitment to serve others, but we receive far more than we give, by serving our communities, which is rewarding.

4. What do you Think is the Biggest Strength of OnSite Health?

The biggest strength of OnSite Health is our ability to react quickly to the needs of our clients. Being able to staff over 100 nurses, throughout the country, in response to the pandemic in 2020, in just a few short weeks, is a perfect example of this. We pride ourselves on working as a team WITH our clients to help them identify their health and safety needs and develop a comprehensive health program for their employees. Nothing OnSite Health does is “cookie cutter.” We customize according to our client’s needs.

5. What does the Future Look like for OnSite Health?

OnSite Health is at a very exciting point in its history. Having been in business for 17 years, we have grown and developed exponentially, in all sectors and locations in the U.S. We are excited to put our efforts into providing great nurses for employers who are looking for ways to control their medical costs while providing an incredible benefit to their employees. We look forward to continuing to do great work!

6. In Your Free Time, What do you Enjoy Doing Most?

Spending time with our family is what I enjoy doing most. My husband, Ron and I also love to walk along the water in Michigan and look for interesting rocks. I also enjoy swimming in the summer, traveling and exploring our country, cooking a great meal on a cold night, and researching new medical treatments and diseases.
